Let customers download documents

Add secure document access to customer accounts and order status pages.

Docket includes blocks for Shopify's current customer accounts and order-status page. A signed-in customer can request documents only for their own order.

Customer account order list

Add the Docket block to the order list in Shopify's customer-account editor. Signed-in customers will see invoice actions only for their own eligible orders.

Order status

Add the Docket block to the order-status page. It lets the customer create an invoice for the order currently shown after checkout.

What the customer receives

Docket creates or reuses the document approved by the merchant and gives the customer a secure link that expires. The link works only for the intended customer and does not reveal a permanent file address.

  1. Use a development customer account with an order.
  2. Sign in through Shopify's customer-account flow.
  3. Open the order list and one order-status page.
  4. Confirm the Docket action appears only for that customer's order.
  5. Download the document and check language, currency, address, tax, and template.
  6. Sign out and confirm the account page is no longer accessible.

Common problems

  • No action: confirm the extension block is placed and the order belongs to the signed-in customer.
  • Expired link: return to the order and request a fresh link.
  • Wrong document design: update the active design, then create a new document according to your document policy. Existing documents keep their original appearance and details.
  • Order is missing: check whether the customer used a different email/account or guest checkout.

Customer download access reduces support requests but does not replace the merchant's legal retention or delivery obligations.
