Configure tax and business details

Display VAT, GST, B2B details, languages, and tax notices clearly.

Open Docket → Tax, business customers, and languages. Changes apply to new documents. Existing documents keep the details they had when they were created.

Merchant tax identity

Enter the business VAT, GST, ABN, or other tax registration value that should appear on documents. Use country-specific legal footers for text required only in certain destinations.

Customer tax identity

Docket looks for a customer tax ID in this order:

  1. Shopify custom fields on the order;
  2. supported order attributes;
  3. Shopify custom fields on the customer;
  4. Shopify B2B company-location tax registration.

Enter only the checkout field names your store actually uses. Add the tax ID to a document with a Shopify custom field or Addresses section.

Tax breakdown

Docket groups Shopify taxes by name and rate, so orders with more than one rate show a separate row for each. Amounts use the currency and number format shown on the Shopify order. Docket does not recalculate Shopify's tax result.

Reverse charge and exemptions

Enable reverse-charge text only when it applies to the business. Configure the destination countries and make sure the order is B2B, has a customer tax ID, and has the expected tax total. Tax-exempt Shopify orders and B2B company locations display the configured exemption notice.

B2B documents

Shopify B2B orders can include company name, company location, tax registration, tax exemption, and payment terms. Add the corresponding sections to the document and preview a real B2B order before publishing.

Languages and RTL

You can change the labels customers see for each supported language. Docket uses the order's language and displays Arabic from right to left. The Docket admin remains in English.

Docket formats Shopify data but does not determine whether a tax, reverse-charge notice, or footer is legally required. Have a qualified adviser review the first document for every jurisdiction the store serves.
