Send documents automatically

Test delivery rules and switch them on when everything looks right.

Open Docket → Automations. Start with one inactive rule, test it, and activate it only after the document and email preview are correct.

Choose when to send

Docket can send a document when:

  • order paid;
  • order fulfilled;
  • order partially fulfilled;
  • order refunded;
  • draft order sent;
  • manual send.

Choose the document type, template, email behavior, and whether to attach the PDF, include a secure download link, or both.

Add conditions

Conditions can match country, order value, tag, sales channel, B2B versus retail, and payment method. All configured fields in a rule must match. Leave a field empty when it should not restrict the rule.

Test before activation

  1. Save the rule as inactive.
  2. Open Email delivery and select an order that should match.
  3. Send a test to an address you control.
  4. Check the attached document, secure link, sender identity, subject, and email body.
  5. Return to Automations and activate the rule.

Duplicate protection

If Shopify sends the same order update more than once, Docket will not send a duplicate email. If the email service is temporarily unavailable, Docket waits and tries again automatically.

Usage on Free

Free includes automated delivery for up to 50 unique orders per calendar month. Multiple rules for the same order count once. Manual document generation does not consume this allowance. Pro has no automation-order limit.

Review results

Recent activity shows whether an order matched the automation. Email history shows whether each email is waiting, sent, delivered, bounced, or needs attention. Use Send again from the existing email so the original document and invoice number stay unchanged.
